A back brace works by supporting the core muscles. The brace will stabilizes the lumbar spinal joints and provide pain relief. You can combine horse riding exercises with the back brace at the same time. With pain relief and a good stretching and strengthening program back pain can be managed very well. Training the core for strength and endurance is the be all end all. The core must be strong for back pain relief.

The typical horse rider has back pain due to stiffness and trauma from jarring and lifting. Many just put up with it until it actually cripples them.

Unless the pain is from a serious mechanical problem then it can we be managed with exercises and a back brace? I used to wear a back brace everyday when I was recovering from a disc injury. The brace helped me ride while I healed. I did do all the Applied Posture Riding exercises though. The combination kept me moving and allowed me to ride with less pain and less damage.

The Core Muscles

If you suffer back pain and want more information just contact me.I sell these back braces from my physiotherapy practice and I also recommend the Applied Posture Riding program for horse riders. If you decide this is for you I can arrange payment and postage via paypal or other.

I do have a Pure Pilates and Pain management DVD I sell through my work to all my back pain patients and especially my work cover patients.I get very cross when I hear people won’t use a back brace in fear of becoming addicted. This is bulldust. I have sold many of these and every person had said what a godsend it is to have pain relief and be able to keep moving.Decide for yourself.

Give me a call or email and have a chat. I love this topic, I am good at it, I have suffered the same and I love seeing people succeed. I was told to never ride again, well I did, I am, and I’m’ fine.

I get emails often from riders with back pain being told by their doctors to never ride again and choose another sport. We all know that is not possible. But it is important to be sensible and allow your body to heal.

Contact me and Ill do my best to help you over the net or phone or in person.

Good luck and enjoy your riding .

Remember to always look at yourself before you blame the horse.

Pilates Has Become The Single Most Important Exercise Routines For All Athletes!….

Pilates For the Equestrian Rider is Slowly Following the Trend…

This is a topic becoming very popular around the world. All instructors now know core exercises are essential for better horse riding. Many horse riders assume that riding will get them fit and the more riding you do the stronger and better you will get.

A good rider will always be a good rider, but with a stronger and more useful core muscle, every horse rider can be better. Training the core is essential, but training the core specific for riding will give a rider so much more stability to apply independent aids.

The dressage rider needs to train the core to achieve that sort after independent deep seat. Without a strong core this will not happen and more and more riding will not strengthen the core. A riders skills simply will not improve. The sit trot certainly will never be achieved. The upright posture requires strong back muscles and good endurance in the shoulder blade muscles. This can only be achieved if the core is strong and the rider has been exercising these muscles independently.

Me Before Applied Posture Riding

Horse Riding is a sport requiring both strength and stability in a static posture. It is also one of the few sports that is symmetrical. Riding requires both the left and right sides of the body to work equally well. Very few riders can do this well but it can be improved by training the core. Equestrian Pilates is essential for the show jump and cross country rider. A strong core allows a rider to have a strong stable well balanced lower leg. Weakness in the core leaves the leg muscles loose and they wobble. This leaves a rider open for a fall as soon as the horse misses a step or a take off and certainly when landing over a big fence.

All of these riders need a strong core. Many riders are attending Pilates classes and or exercise classes, which all help. Walking and jogging and or bike riding are all good for fitness.

The Applied Posture Riding program is the best available to train the horse and rider for riding.

For detailed information on this program read the website ask questions and investigate the best program for riders yet. Applied Posture Riding available on DVD.

Your groom and supporters also need to train their core Pure Pilates DVD is the choice for them.

Good Luck and enjoy your riding.

Posture Is Often Overlooked In Riders.

Horse Rider Fitness is essential for horse riders. Both cardiovascular fitness and general muscle fitness.

A rider is a unique athlete, not like any other athlete, riders require special physical strength and co-ordination abilities. Riders need deep core strength, more so than other athletes, such as runners or field athletes. Riders require greater core and back strength and flexibility. You must have great core strength to maintain your posture while applying the correct aids at all the different paces of the horse. Appearing still on a moving animal requires great control of your deep core muscles.
Riding instructors are now recommending Pilates for riders. This has become known as Equestrian Pilates.
It is very easy to start a fitness program and it may be as simple as walking for 30 minutes a day. The type of fitness required for horse riders is different and horse riders must be aware of this.Walking, running and playing any field sports as a second sport from horse riding is great for general fitness and cardiovascular fitness.
Horse riders also need to train specific muscles for riding and they need to learn which muscle and how.
Stretching is important in a fitness program and so is training movement patterns specific for riding. The posture muscles around the upper back and shoulders need to be strengthened for power and endurance. The hamstrings need to be stretched as does the lower back and pelvis.
The use of the big gym ball is a great tool for training the horse riding muscles. The ball can be used for increasing flexibility and movement through the pelvis and the lower back. It can be used to lay over and stretch the back and the neck .

Resistance band or thera-band is an added tool for strengthening the muscles in all the body. It is particularly useful to train movement patterns specific for horse riding riding.

If you want more information on horse rider fitness and want to train yourself for riding specific have a look at Applied Posture Riding.
This program will teach you everything you need to know about horse rider fitness.
One of the horse rider exercises in the program is learning to balance through the lower leg ,not the reins. The exercises in the saddle is to shorten your stirrups up to 4 holes and practice balancing just in the stirrups without the reins. This teaches lower leg stability and strength.
If you want to contact me for personal information about your posture or pain or riding I would be happy to answer any questions. I love this topic and I love seeing riders become the best they can be.
Good luck and enjoy your riding
